My mom uses our computer for her PhD. She writes assignments and very long essays and then sends them to her professor. In work, she uses a computer to write lesson plans and keep grades and attendance. It makes her job easier because it's faster than writing it all down.

Point, Click, and Go Try-It
1. Making the Computer Work (Tues. 1/12/10):
We learned these things on the desktop computer and the laptop. They were easy.
2. Computer Language (Thurs. 1/21/10):
Software - Data that is stored digitally that includes games and programs for the computer.
Program - It is instructions for the computer. It tells the computer how to do stuff, like to type and other cool stuff.
Database - It is an electronic file cabinet where data is stored.
Hardware - The computer and all of the visible appliances.
Icon - A little picture of a program on the computer that you can double click and open the program.
Font - The different kinds and shapes of letters.
Memory - It helps to store stuff, remember stuff, and run programs on the computer.
Laptop Computer - The computer on which Mom does her PhD. You can put this one in a bag and take it with you.
Desktop Computer - The computer is the one that Dad plays the bicycle games on. it is too big and heavy and not portable.
Your computer's desktop - The screen that you see when the computer is on.

I played the Buzz Lightyear game on the NASA Kids' Club website. It was really fun!

I wrote a thank you note to my grandma and grandpa for the Christmas card and gift that they sent me.
6. Talk Time (Tues. 1/12/10):
I chatted online before my online class and it was really fun! One of the people on the other line said, "Hellloooooooooo" It was really funny!
