Space Explorer Try-It

1. The Night Sky (Tues. 5/4/10):

We used my telescope to look at the night sky.

2. The Moon

3. Ready, Set, Jet! (Tues. 5/11/10):

My Girl Scout center on the moon is turquoise blue with a purple door, and the windows are shaped like triangles, circles, and squares. There is a radar that picks up signals from the earth. For instance, if the Girl Scout center on earth wanted four boxes of Tagalongs, the radar would receive that and send a signal back. We would send four boxes of Tagalongs.

My outfit is blue and it has a helmet. It says "NASA" and "Girl Scouts" with a cookie in the middle. There is also a flag on the bottom.

This activity was awesome.

4. Shadow Time (Sat. 5/15/10):

We put the first sticks in the ground at 9:45 a.m.

The next stick was at 10:45 a.m. The shadow was shorter than the first and farther past the first shadow.

The third stick was at 11:45 a.m. The shadow was even shorter than the second and twice as far as the second.

This is something you could use to tell time on a sunny day but not on a cloudy day.

5. Star Maker (Tues. 5/4/10):

This is the constellation Taurus the Bull.
